GEORGE WILLIAM HODGSON
George William Hodgson, 68, of rural Nevada, died Monday, Dec. 26, 1983, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Oliver Johnson of the Bethany Lutheran Church at McCallsburg officiating. Burial will at the Evergreen Memory Gardens near Nevada.
Hodgson was born on Dec. 6, 1915, in Jasper County to Merle William and Emily (Williams) Hodgson. He attended school in Newton.
He married Geraldine Harrison on Sept. 4, 1937 in Huntsville, Mo. He spent his life in Jasper, Hardin and Story counties, the last 27 years residing in Fernald. He was owner of Hodgson Carpets and Custom Draperies in Fernald. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; one son, Rick Hodgson of Fernald; two daughters, Irene Howard of Nevada and Kathy Fitzgerald of Ames; three sisters, Margaret Gidley of Newton, Selena McDonald of Indiana and Irene McIntosh of Ottumwa; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and two brothers.
The family will meet friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 7-9 p.m.
