Charles Goodwin June 30, 1920, to Jan. 12, 1994
Charles William "Bill" Goodwin, 73, of Nevada died of respiratory failure at Story County Hospital, Nevada.
He was born to Charles and Retta (Blanchard) Goodwin at Washington, Iowa. He married Annabelle Handsaker on Dec. 28, 1941 in Kahoka, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and also worked for the Hach Company in Ames until his retirement in 1984. He had lived in Nevada since 1973, moving from Colo.
He was a member of the Colo Methodist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. His hobbies were wood carving, painting and lapidary.
Survivors include his wife, Annabelle, of Nevada; a brother, Tom Goodwin of Moline, Ill.; and an aunt, Lillian Murphy of Washington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation is being held today (Jan. 13) at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral sevices will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Weida of the Colo United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
