Wendell G. Dubberke, 73, of Hubbard, died suddenly Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his residence. Per Wendell’s wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the family farm in Hubbard.
Wendell Gail Dubberke was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Eldora, the beloved son of John and Wilma (Meeker) Dubberke. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and was employed for 30-plus years with the Iowa Department of Transportation in Ames as a geologist.
He was a member of the Moose, various antique engine and tractor clubs, and the Studebaker Club.
He is survived by his soulmate, Chris McCaslin and her son, Jason; two sons, Kyle and Tammy Dubberke and their children, Michael, Jennifer, Ryan and Amanda, of Arlington, Texas, and Kent and Donna Dubberke and their children, Rosalie and John, of Blue Grass; three brothers, Forrest Dubberke, of Ames, Lowell Dubberke, of Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Kenneth Dubberke, of New Brunswick, Canada; and three sisters, Janet Uskudarli, of Istanbul, Turkey, Patricia Weiss, of Omaha, Neb., and Yvonne Hartung, of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilma Dubberke, of Hubbard; one brother, Donald Dubberke, of Hubbard; and sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Jack Galbreath, of Prairie City.
