NEVADA - Robert "Bob" Lee Burnett, 91, died May 2, 2009, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa.

Memorial services were held, Wednesday, May 6th at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Visitation was held Tuesday at Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory in Nevada.

Bob was born at Nevada, Iowa on September 10, 1917, the son of Robert John and Greta (Huddleston) Burnett. He married Ethel Marie Stevenson on October 16, 1939 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1975. He was later united in marriage to Carol (Aukland) Tye on April 17, 1976, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.

Bob owned and worked for Burnett Electric as a maintenance electrician. Bob was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. He was a former member of Foresters; the Moose Lodge; enjoyed traveling, playing cards, camping, and was an avid cribbage player. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, Carol. He lived all but three years of his life in Story County.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol of Nevada, IA; one son: Steve (Tina) Burnett of Winter Springs, Florida; two stepsons: Kevin Tye of Nevada, IA; Allan (Sheila) Tye of Nevada, IA; two daughters: Rita (Ron) Gehrts of Madisonville, Tennessee, Kathy (Robert) Walker of Iowa Center, Iowa; two step-daughters: Nancy (Loren) Donaldson of Ames, Iowa, Jeanine (Rod) Pfantz of Nevada, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; and one brother: George (Betty) Burnett of Nevada, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Ethel; four sisters: Florence Clayberg, Dorothy Matheason, Fern Finningan, and an infant sister, Anna; one brother: Howard Burnett, and one great granddaughter: Jessica Tye.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
