Jerald M. Kirk, 420 E. 11th St., 83, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of St. Anthony, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 25 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa.

Jerald was born January 15, 1926, in rural Zearing, Iowa, the son of Robert R. Kirk and Alta V. (Byrn) Kirk.

Jerald married the love of his life Marlys R. (Buffington) Kirk on February 14, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Surviving are two sons, Max E. (Beth) Kirk of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Michael D. (Angie) Kirk of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Katie Kelly, Mandy Duncan, Robert Kirk, Andrea Crosley, Justin Shaw, Brenna Shaw and six great-grandchildren.

Jerald and Marlys enjoyed a partnership of the heart that led them to farm in the Zearing and St. Anthony, Iowa areas for over 40 years. Jerald was one of those farmers who lived in the transition from true horsepower to tractors. His passions were the love of the soil and his family.

Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlys in October of 1998 and his brother, Roger Kirk.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Clemons United Church of Christ in Clemons, Iowa. Interment will be in the Clemons Cemetery in Clemons, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Clemons United Church of Christ, 301 Maple St., Clemons, Iowa 50051.

The Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
