Ione Catherine Jensen, 92, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City.

Ione was born April 27, 1916 in Jewell to Hans and Hazel Brock. She married Walter Jensen on Jan. 30, 1935. Together they farmed near Jewell, then moved to a farm near Randall where they retired.

Ione was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. She fondly recalled her days of playing three-court basketball. She enjoyed playing Pitch, as well as a spirited game of Aggravation.

Ione is survived by her children, Walt (Thelma) Jensen of West Des Moines and Sterling (Martha) Jensen of LaCrescenta, California. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Jeff (Mary) Jensen of West Des Moines, Gary (Marti) Jensen of Clive, Jane (Bryan) Grube of West Des Moines, Todd Jensen of Sofia, Bulgaria, Terri (Leigh) Ensor of San Marcos, California, and Tim Jensen of Redondo Beach, California; 10 great-grandchildren as well as her brother, John (Doris) Brock of Des Moines and sister, Marge Brock of Los Angeles, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and a sister, Betty Kelly.
