Glen Nerness, 87, of Ames, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, of pneumonia at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames, with the Rev. Todd Jenks officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Glen Nerness was born June 1. 1916, in Kelley, the son of Olaf "Ole" and Rachael (Egemo) Nerness. He married Ila Mae Bailey March 20, 1949, in Ames. He worked as a farmer near Kelley for 35 years. He had been an Ames resident since 1984. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and spent 2-1/2 years in England. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. American Legoin in Slater and Ames Kiwanis. He had a corn shelling business in Kelley and the surrounding area. He loved his family and friends.
He is survivied by his wife, Ila of Ames; one son , John (Claudia) Nerness of Los Gatos, Calif.; two daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Bell of Malvern and Jennifer (Shannon)_ Whipp of Ames; three grandchildren, Jacob Bell, Barbara Nerness and Michaela Simmons; one brother, Orland (Vivian) Nerness of Huxley; one sister, Mildred Brendeland of Ames; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.
Memorials can be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames.
Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
