James Edward Frette, 59, of Story City, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be Friday, January 9th at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. There will be a visitation of family and friends on Thursday, January 8th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

James Edward Frette was born June 1, 1949 in Story City to Bennett and Dolores (Mackrell) Frette. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and graduated from Story City High School. James worked as a technician for the Iowa DOT for 41 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved spending time in Florida.

He is survived by his best friend, Eileen Buchanan of Marshalltown; his father, Bennett Frette of Story City; two daughters, Tanya (Doug) Hilkert of Clearwater, Florida, and Tricia (Jason) Cunningham of Ankeny, Iowa; two sisters, Denise Johnson of Grimes, Iowa, and Debra (Doug) Pospisil of Ames, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Alexander, Luke, Madison, and Gus.

James was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorials may be designated to Iowa River Valley Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa.
