Henry Adams, of Cambridge, died Saturday, April 25, 2009. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Henry Walter Adams

Henry Adams died peacefully at his home in Cambridge Saturday, April 25, 2009. A Mass of celebration of his life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames, with Father Dennis Miller presiding. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.

Visitation was from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Henry Adams was born June 11, 1924, in Cambridge, to Orten and Bessie Adams. He graduated from Shipley High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946, and after serving, he returned home to the family farm. He also worked for several years at the John Deere plant in Ankeny.

He married Edna Pantenburg Aug. 18, 1962, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Ames. He and Edna resided on the family farm near Cambridge for more than 45 years.

He enjoyed being with family and friends, going to coffee club and attending auctions.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; one sister-in-law, Agatha “Pat” Varnum; 13 nieces; two nephews; cousins; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Charles “Bud” Pantenburg.

Memorials may be directed to St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames or Bliss Cancer Center in Ames.
