W. Hoppins, 48, Dies Here Early Friday
W. L. Hoppins, 48, a resident of Ames for 31 years and city employee for 12 years, died at his home at 1103 Grand avenue at 8 a. m. Friday from the effects of a stroke.
Mr. Hoppins was born June 22, 1888 at Ontario, Canada, and came to Ames in 1915. He was married to Nettie Olson of Ames Aug. 26, 1917. For the past 12 years Hoppins had been employed in the city electric department and at the time of his death ws president of the Ames City Employees Credit union. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. and Masonic lodges.
Surviving him are his wife and one child, Harold, 12; a brother, Roy of Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Worrell of Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m., Sunday from the Duckworth funeral home. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home Saturday.
The Masonic lodge will have chage of services at the cemetery.
