Gladys Krantz, 96, of Ames, died Monday, April 13, 2009. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, April 15, 2009.
Gladys E. Krantz, 96, of Ames, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Gladys Krantz was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Minneapolis, to Harold and Minnie Follos. She graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in 1931.
She was a silkscreen artist and retired from Collegiate Manufacturing. Prior to marriage, she had been a professional piano player and traveled the northwestern United States. She especially loved to play Bingo.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Erne) Dooley, of Sun City, Ariz., and Judy Giddle, of Atascadero, Calif.; one son, Jerry (Myrna) Nordin, of Ames; one sister, Dorothy Burglund, of Albert Lea, Minn.; grandchildren; great- and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Nordin in 1947; her second husband, Charles Krantz in 1969; her parents; one sister, Marion Anderson; one daughter, Joan Peterson; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Maland; one grandson, Dennis Edward Dooley; and four step-grandchildren.
