ANNA ARMSTRONG DIES AT COLLINS

COLLINS— Mrs. Anna Armstrong, 85, died at her home here Sunday, April 19, from complications of old age.

A brief prayer service will be held at the home of her son J. Ralph Armstrong on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. The body will be taken to Kirkwood, Ill., where the funeral service will be held Wednesday and the burial will be in the cemetery there.

Mrs. Armstrong was born at Thompsontown, Penn., May 13, 1851, one of the eight children of Eli and Hannah Cargill. She is the last of the children.

She came to Kirkwood when a child, and it was there that she married Dr. D. W. Armstrong. The family came to Collins and established a home, after the youngest son J. Ralph Armstrong took charge of the Collins Gazette, local newspaper.

Nine children were born to Dr. and Mrs. Armstrong, one daughter, Edith, died at the age of nine years and a son Dr. Clarence D. died in 1904. The surviving children are Alfred C. of Kirkwood; Mrs. Mary L. Abbey of Chicago; Mrs. Mable Bowers of Springdale, Ark.; William E., of Mackey, Idaho; Mrs. Hazel Boyce of Hampton; Mrs. C. W. Lantz of Cedar Falls and J. Ralph of Collins. She also leaves six grand children and six great grandchildren.

A niece, Miss Cargill, made her home with Mrs. Armstrong and assisted in the care of the aged woman.
