THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 11, 2009.
Karyn Gerard Davis-Rutter, 45, of Nevada, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, of which she was a member, with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial in Ames Municipal Cemetery will follow the luncheon.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1110 11th St., in Nevada, where a vigil service will be at 7 p.m.
Karyn was born Jan. 4, 1964, in Ames, to Robert Emmett and Phyllis Joyce (Dolmage) Sullivan. She attended St. Cecilia Catholic School and graduated in 1982 from Ames High School. She earned a degree from Des Moines Area Community College in court reporting. On June 24, 2006, she married Richard Charles Rutter Sr. at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She was employed in the district court of Story County office. She loved being with her children, animals and flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Rick” Rutter Sr., of Nevada; her children, Trevor Alan Davis and Tarah Victoria Davis, both at home; her parents, Bob and Joyce Sullivan, of Ames; three brothers, Terry (Robin) Sullivan and Dan (Julia) Sullivan, all of Ames, and Tom (Janelle) Sullivan, of Gilbert, Ariz.; one sister, Sue (Gary) Handsaker, of rural Nevada; three stepchildren, Ryan Rutter, of Ames, Aaron (Chelsea) Rutter, of Madrid, and Ricky Rutter Jr., of Des Moines; and two step-grandchildren, Adena and Kameryn Rutter.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia L. Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for her children’s college education at First Federal Savings Bank, 404 Lincoln Highway in Nevada.
