Karina Lynn Slinger, age 36, of Zimmerman, MN passed away on February 8, 2009 at her home.
Karina was born on December 24, 1972 in De Witt, Iowa to William "Bill" and Sharron (Arnstedt) Slinger. Karina spent most of her childhood in Iowa, living much of the time in Nevada, IA until her sophomore year of high school when her family moved to California. She graduated from Rim of the World High School in 1991. She attended California Poly Technical College - Pomona where she was enrolled in the Equine Science Program. Karina's family returned to Iowa where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University.

Her education and natural ability to work with horses earned her the position as breeding manager at the Anoka Equine Veterinary Clinic. She was able to meet and develop numerous friendships though her love of horses and animals. She had four Arabian "children": Mooney, Lucky, U Odysseyher (CC), and Just-A-Piece of Luck (JJ).

Karina was truly one of a kind. She was a caring, compassionate and strong woman. She knew what she wanted and never compromised her principals to achieve her goals. Karina enjoyed reading, especially Harry Potter and fantasy novels, cooking, and decorating her home. She loved spending time with her family, especially her nephews and nieces, teaching them to ride horses, coloring or doing hair and nails. She was a fun loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by many.

Karina is survived by her loving parents: Bill and Sharron; sister Gretta (Mark) Reischauer; brother: Jayson (Ana Kaveh); nephews and nieces: Cameron, Hannah, Jacob, Cyrus, and Roya; aunts and uncle: Julie Slinger, Barbara Decker, Scott (Trudy) Slinger; cousins: Milo Decker, Brian Decker, Karl Decker, Mary Finestein, Patrick Toal and Eli Slinger. Karina is also survived by many loving friends.

Karina was preceded in death by an infant brother: Nelson and by her grandparents.
A memorial service will be held in Iowa on Friday, February 13 at 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Ames, IA. A celebration of Karina's life will be held in Minnesota at a later date.
