THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 12, 2009.

Onalee McCoy, 98, of Boone, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in the Hearthstone Memory Care Unit of Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Onalee was born Oct. 3, 1910, in Beresford, S.D., the daughter of C. Walter and Ida (Koons) Kundert. On Feb. 23, 1932, she married Richard George McCoy in South Dakota. From 1956 to 1977, she was employed at Boone County Hospital in Boone as a nurse’s aide and seamstress.

She is survived by one son, Richard McCoy and wife Donita, of Ames; six grandchildren, Peter McCoy, Shawn McCoy, Meagan McCoy, Shannon McCoy, Chris Muller and Annette Muller Toole; four great-grandchildren, Brendan and Aidan McCoy, and Tyler and Alyson Toole; and two nephews, Wally and Donny Kundert.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, LaVelle Kundert; an infant son, Thomas William McCoy; and one daughter, Kathleen Muller.

Memorials may be given to the Hearthstone Memory Care Unit at Eastern Star Masonic Home or Ballard Creek Community-Assisted Living in Huxley.
