THE TRI-COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 5, 2009.

Elnora Nernes, 84, of Slater, died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Madrid Home. Services were held Monday, Feb. 2, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Heidi Williams officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Elnora was born in Slater on Feb. 22, 1924, to Morton and Susana (Scott) Nernes. Her lifetime was spent on the family farm. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem. She worked as a cook, a seamstress and a homemaker.

She is survived by cousins, and was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Frances Gaard.
