THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 4, 2009.

Gretchen L. Warren, 66, of Story City, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ames, with Father Al Aiton officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames.

Gretchen L. Warren was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robert and Elizabeth (Orr) Strohbehn. She was a cashier at Gary Thompson Oil Co.

She was an avid fan of Hawkeye football and basketball, and a racing fan, particularly of Dale E. Earnhardt Sr. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching golf.

She is survived by two sons, Bill (Connie) Warren Jr., of Marshalltown, and Steve (Charlene) Warren, of Houston; her ex-husband, Bill Warren Sr.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David, in 1968; and granddaughter, Amanda, in 1996.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.
