THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 27, 2009.

Marvel M. Aurand, 91, of Ames, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Northcrest Community HWH in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be later in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Marvel Aurand was born April 13, 1917, in Buffalo Center, to Carl G. and Martha (Johnson) Anderson. She married Vernon Luther in 1939. They had three children, Mark, of Urbana, Mo., Bonny (Gary) Bay, of Holden, Mo., and Barry (Rose), of Fair Oaks, Calif.

In 1964, she married Elmer Aurand. They were married 44 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer; her three children; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Kathleen Aurand, John (Lori) Aurand and Daniel Aurand; five step-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Gebhard, of St. Paul, Minn.
