THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 20, 2009.

Julietta Ione Askland, 99, a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, with the Rev. Daniel W. Solomon officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Walter-Schroeder Funeral Home at Fifth and Story streets in Boone. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to the time of service Wednesday at the church.

Julietta was born April 29, 1909, in Badger, the daughter of John J. and Annie (Peterson) Larson. She attended country school near Badger. On April 9, 1938, she married Charles H. Askland in Fort Dodge. They had four children. She was a resident of Boone for the last 55 years.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. She enjoyed doing embroidery and reading. She loved spending quality time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Jacqueline) Askland, of Ames; her son, Kevin (Brenda) Askland, of Ames; her daughter, Ruth (Fred) Bowes, of Boone; her seven grandchildren, Julie Bowes, Rhonda (Scott) Russell, Susan Trow, Sonja Clemons, Brian (Jackie) Askland, Scott (Karla) Askland and David (Stacey) Askland; 13 great-grandchildren, Zachary Dennis, Brittany Trow, Joshua Russell, Carson Russell, Mallory Clemons, Donovan Clemons, Brian Jr., Lucas and Ethan Askland, Spring Breckenridge and Lacy Doolittle, and Hailey and Emily Askland; and three great-great-grandchildren, Alana, Addison and Miranda.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; one son, Glen; one grandson, Paul Alan; seven sisters; and two brothers.

Memorials may be given to Augustana Lutheran Church.
