Herman Ray Mittlestadt, 75, of Nevada, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. His body has been cremated and burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Cambridge Cemetery.

Herman was born July 12, 1933, in Huxley, to Frank and Lillie (Pelham) Mittlestadt. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked in farming and also mowed lawns.

He is survived by one son, Timothy Mittlestadt, of Des Moines; one daughter, Teresa R. Stroup, of Spickard, Mo.; three brothers, Clayton, of Nevada, Jim, of Cambridge, and Jerry, of San Diego; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ed Mittlestadt; and two sisters, June Aldridge and Helen Aldridge.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
