J. A. Martin Services Will Be Held Sun.

Funeral services for Joseph Alphonso Martin, 35, who died Tuesday noon at his home at 212 Lincoln way, will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday from the Adams chapel, with the Rev. P. J. Wolpe, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, in charge. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery.

Martin, popularly known as Al, died of a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in ill health for the past four years, and he never completely recovered from an attack of double pneumonia suffered four years ago while in Mason City.

He was born in Georgia March 31, 1900 and came to Ames in 1917. He attended Ames high school and served as quarterback on the Little Cyclone football team, and received all-state recognition in 1923, when Ames and Cedar Rapids tied for the state title. He was graduated in 1924. He was married to Pearl Adams in 1923 in Kansas City, Mo.

Surviving him are his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Martin; seven children, ranging in ages from 2 to 11 years, Al jr., Robert, Darwin, Roland, Arthur, Nellie Mae and Nancy Ann. Also four brothers, Paul and Robert, Ames; Archie, Des Moines, and Earnest, Cleveland, O.; and three sisters, Mrs. J. D. Shipp and Mrs. I. E. Brown, Ames, and Mrs. Hattie Miller, Los Angeles.
