Welby Marshall, 92, of Maxwell, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at his residence. Welby's wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned.

He was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Deluce, Ark., to Charles David and Maude Ollie Marshall. He entered the service in 1941 and served in many states and places overseas, including Japan and Germany on the Berlin Airlift, before retiring from the United States Air Force in 1961. He moved to a farm with his family in 1961. Welby married Darlene Hill on April 10, 1946, in Chicago, Ill.

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Darlene Marshall; his sons, Carl David Marshall and Wesley Vernon Marshall; two grandchildren, Dennis and Lori; a great-granddaughter, Victoria; and one brother, David Marshall.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
