THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 18, 2008.

Carl Conway, 83, of Boone, died Dec. 15, 2008, at Boone County Hospital in Boone.

Carl Joseph Conway was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Carroll, the son of Roy and Josephine (Henney) Conway. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Carroll, retiring in December 1985. He had lived in Boone since 1986.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara, of Boone; three daughters, Virginia Brannan, of Ames, Jane Peoples, of Boone, Ruth Schroeder, of Council Bluffs; one son, Michael Conway, of Spencer; grandchildren, Michael Kroeger, of Carroll, Matthew Kroeger, of Iowa City, Beth Brannan, of Boone, Jill and Josh Schroeder, of Council Bluffs, and Chris Peoples, of Boone; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Florence and Virginia Conway; and one daughter, Mary Jo Kroeger.

Carl's wishes were to gift his body to Des Moines University in Des Moines and a memorial service will held be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the family in Carl's honor.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
