David R. Anderson, 56, of rural Story City, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at his home. Funeral services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

David R. Anderson, 56, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at his home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

David was born Aug. 31, 1952. He graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1970 and married Carleen Johnson on June 9, 1973. They enjoyed 33 happy years of marriage together raising their three children. He served many years with the Story County Sheriff's Department, and then began farming in 1988. He enjoyed farming, being outdoors, spending time with his family and taking care of his dog, Lucky. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his three children, Nick, of Ellsworth, Rachel Ausenhus (Brant), of Ankeny, and Jeff (Patti) of Stillwater, Okla.; and one grandson, Benjamin Ausenhus. He is also survived by his parents, Ruth and Willard Anderson, of Ames; and two sisters, Marilyn Anderson (Bill Tout), of Ashland, Ore., and Marlene Polmear (Rick) of Englewood, Colo. He touched the lives of many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carleen Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the David R. and Carleen Anderson Educational Trust.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is assisting the family with arrangements.
