CAMBRIDGE - Howard Foss McCauley, 90, of Cambridge, died Monday, December 08, 2008 at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, IA.

Howard was born June 23, 1918 near Cambridge, Iowa, the son of Andrew Foss and Mary (Jessop) McCauley. He graduated from White Oak High School in 1934. Howard was united in marriage to Marjorie Conkel on December 3, 1938 at the Loring Methodist Church parsonage. Marjorie preceded Howard in death on October 22, 1984. Howard was a farmer and farmed near Cambridge until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Marquisville United Methodist Church. He loved to hunt, fish and work with wood.

Howard is survived by his Companion: Mildred Porter of Cambridge, Iowa; a son and daughter-in-law: Dan and Diane McCauley of Kent, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law: Bernice and Ken Herman of White Oak, Iowa, Roberta and Jerry Kohler of Prescott, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Laura (Kevan) Zechin, Brian (Angela) Herman, Craig (Kellie) McCauley, Rod (Pam) McCauley; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Doris Kaltenheuser of Phoenix, Arizona, Iris Longnecker of Ankeny, Iowa.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; a brother, Norman; and a sister, Betty Ross.

Memorials may be made to Homeward Hospice or the Marquisville United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Burial will be in the Loring Cemetery near Maxwell.

Visitation will be 6:30 ? 8:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
