THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 25, 2008.

Herbert O. Monson, 81, of Iowa Falls and formerly of Ames, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at the Hubbard Care Center. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. Mark's Catholic Church. A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the services at the church.

Munson donated his body to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel assisted the family with the donation process and is assisting the family with the services.

Herbert O. Monson, 81, of Iowa Falls and formerly of Ames and Story City, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Hubbard Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Visitation and fellowship will follow the services at the church. Mr. Monson donated his body to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Inurnment will be at later date in Fairview Cemetery in Story City.

Herbert Oran Monson was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Story City, the son of Mary A. (Shaw) and Lewis H. Monson. He graduated from Story City Community Schools with the class of 1945. On May 29, 1954, he married Clara J. Luebbers at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Geneva. The couple had lived in Ames, Bella Vista, Ark., and Iowa Falls. He was employed by the Jack Barrow Construction Company in Ames, retiring in 1989, and also the Wal-Mart Carpenter Shop. He was a member of St. Mark Parish in Iowa Falls and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Monson, of Iowa Falls; and one sister, Genevieve Monson, of Story City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mary Monson; and one sister, Marion Solyst.
