Thelma Olson , formerly of McCallsburg, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Colonial Manor. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Bethany Lutheran Church, with burial in Warren Township Cemetery, both in McCallsburg.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.
Thelma Olson was born Dec. 21, 1914, in McCallsburg, to Edd and Christofa (Olson) Bergland. She graduated from McCallsburg High School. She operated McCallsburg Variety Story for many years.
Thelma married Obed Olson on Dec. 23, 1953, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. They farmed near McCallsburg before moving to town in 1983. She moved to Colonial Manor in 1997. She loved to garden, can, sew and care for her family.
She will be missed by one son, Merle, of McCallsburg; five grandchildren, Bambi (Mike) Cerka, of Roland, Keith (Sarah), of Ankeny, Jamie, of Ames, Cody, of Ames, and Taylor, of Story City; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Grace Cerka; and one sister, Edna (Kenneth) Nutall, of Appleton, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Obed, on July 6, 1989; four brothers; and three sisters.
Fredregill Funeral Home of Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
