Mary Wilma Speck Ford, 92, of Stratford, passed away at her home at Athens Woods on Thursday morning, November 20, 2008.

She was born on July 2, 1916 in Ames, Iowa the daughter of James and Helen Maude (Hurlock) Speck. Mary attended school and graduated from Ames High School.

On November 7, 1936, she married Jeffrey Ford at Princeton, Missouri. Jeff and Mary raised their family in Stratford, where they were engaged in farming

Mary was a faithful member of the Stratford Lutheran Church and her Church Circle. She enjoyed reading and making quilts for the Church. Visits from her family brightened her days. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family

Her parents, husband Jeffery in June of 1984, a grandson, Kirk, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include 3 sons; Philip Ford and wife Betty of Boone, Stanley Ford and wife Margaret of Denison, and John Ford and wife Diane of St. Joseph, Missouri; 1 daughter Julia Johnson and husband Phil of Jewell; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be held on Sunday afternoon, November 23rd at 1:30 p.m. at the Stratford Lutheran Church in Stratford with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating.

Interment will be in the Mamrelund Cemetery east of Randall, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stratford Lutheran Church on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue at the Church on Sunday afternoon from Noon until the time of service.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their memorial gift to the Stratford Lutheran Church or Athens Woods.
