Michael Greiner, 14, of rural Zearing, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2005 at the Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church north of State Center with Pastor David Steege officiating. He was laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Clemons Lutheran School or the family in his memory. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Michael and his family. Born Michael Edward Greiner on March 20, 1990, in Ames, he was the son of Arden and Ronna (Hartwig) Greiner. He graduated from Clemons Lutheran School and was currently a freshman at Colo-NESCO High School. Michael was a member of the Colo-NESCO FFA, St. John's Lutheran Church (being baptized on April 22, 1990) and the Young Saints of the church.
Michael will be fondly remembered for his love of family, caring for pets, going fishing, four wheeling and his ability to fix anything. He enjoyed farming, working on his tractors and pick-up and was always busy doing what needed to be done.
Left to mourn his loss are his parents Arden and Roma Greiner of rural Zearing; brother David and sister Kristine both at home; grandmother Lavonne Greiner of rural Zearing, and grandparents Nyle and Joann Hartwig of State Center; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
In death he has rejoined his grandfather Edward Greiner.
