David J. Voss, 42, of Wyoming, Minn., died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, near Wyoming, Minn., as a result of a motorcycle accident. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, Neb., with Fr. Dan Andrews officiating and burial to follow at the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. wake service, Thursday, Nov. 6, at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

A memorial service was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Forest Lake, Minn. A memorial service is also being planned at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ames, and the date and time will be announced as soon as arrangements are made.

David James Voss, was born June 23, 1966, in Dubuque, the son of Regis and Margaret (Mitchell) Voss. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ames, and graduated from Ames High School with the Class of 1984. He attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he received education in nursing, then pursued a career in engineering.

On Aug. 1, 1992, he married Rita Mescher at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, Neb. To this union, two daughters were born, Rhea and Samantha. The couple made their home in Omaha, Neb., where Dave worked for Industrial Label Corporation, designing several patents. In 2005, the couple moved to Wyoming, Minn., where he worked for Ace Label Corporation.

Dave was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Forest Lake, Minn., and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed coaching his daughters in soccer and basketball, playing with radio controlled cars and helicopters, and working with electronics. He was a runner and competed in several marathons. He was an avid reader and took pleasure in constantly learning new things.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, and two daughters, Rhea, 12, and Samantha, 10, all of Wyoming, Minn.; parents, Regis and Mardi Voss, of Ames; brother, John Voss and wife, Their, of Zumbrota, Minn.; sister, Lori Voss, of Ames; mother-in-law, Carol Mescher, of Elgin, Neb.; along with many other relatives and friends.
