Signe Anita Swenson, 87, of Story City passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Visitation with the family preceded the service from 1:00 to 2:00 and burial follow the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Jewell.

Signe Anita Swenson was born January 6, 1921 to John E. and Agnes Marie (Sandal) Iverson in Hamilton County, Iowa. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and lived her entire life in the area. Signe married Reuben T. Swenson on September 19, 1942 at St. Paul's. She taught kindergarten and first grade for one year and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Signe liked creating driftwood and flower arrangements, and gardening and canning.

Signe is survived by one daughter, Rhonda (Peter) Keller of Millertown, Pennsylvania; her daughter-in-law Doris Swenson of rural Jewell; six grandchildren, James, Bryan, Kathy, Eric, David, and Kirsten; and nine great-grandchildren, Cassie, Trevor, Jenna, Jessica, Cody, Isabel, Luke, Vivian, and Ayden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Roger Swenson; a great-grandson Ike; and two sisters, Inez McCoy and Delma Johnson.

Memorials may be designated to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Jewell.
