Charlotte Beatrice Lee was born April 23, 1920 to Iver and Elsie (Braaland) Sampson in Roland, Iowa. She lived in town with her family during her youth.
She graduated from Roland High School in 1938.
On June 3, 1945, Charlotte was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Lee II at the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Carla Rae and Robert Edward III.Charlotte was a homemaker and loved farm life. She enjoyed taking care of her cats and, while Bob was alive, they raised livestock together. She was especially active in their chicken and egg operation.
She was a volunteer for many years at Handicap Village in Clear Lake. She actively visited Camp Sunnyside and many residents at area nursing homes. Charlotte also enjoyed visits from her family especially her great-grandchildren.
Charlotte passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Rolling Green Care Facility in Nevada, Iowa.Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carla Rae Lee of Superior, Wisconsin; her son Robert (DeAnne Luke) Lee III of Radcliffe, Iowa; grandchildren April (Tim) Lawson-Kelly and Ryan Luke; great-grandchildren Alexis Lawson, Gage and Ashley Kelly, Nicholas Luke; nieces, Shirley Ann Cotton, Janice White and Connie Ball and nephew Fred Madison; along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob in 1987, three grandsons Blair, Blane and Joseph Lawson, brother Mervin Sampson, sister Irene Madison and nephew Roger Madison.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Burial was in the Radcliffe Cemetery. Boeke Funeral Home, Radcliffe, handled arrangements. On-line condolences may be made to www.boekefuneralhomes.com.
