CORA WILKINSON DIES IN SLEEP TUESDAY MORN
Miss Cora Wilkinson, a long-time resident of Story county, died in her home at 327 Sixth street at 8:30 a. m. Tuesday, presumably while sleeping. Funeral arrangements will be announced following the arrival of relatives from a distance.
Miss Wilkinson will be remembered by many Ames people as the self-taught typist who operated a public mimeographing and typing service here for 23 years until her retirement in 1946. She started the business in 1923 when following the death of her mother she found it necessary to remain at home and take care of her father.
After learning to type, Miss Wilkinson soon was in great demand to type theses and other material for college students. Later she moved her business into the old Ames Trust and Savings building where she continued until 1946.--- from the Ames Tribune 10/22/1947
