OBITUARY
Died, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Yelton, in this city, June 5, 1893, William Lennin. Deceased was born Feb. 24, 1805, in Fayette county, Pennsylvania; was married in Shelbyville, Indiana, April 30, 1833; came to Story county April 5, 1871, where he has since made his home. He had been a member of the Methodist church more than sixty years, of which he was a devoted attendant until the infirmities of age prevented. He became totally blind about four years since. He bore his afflictions with fortitude, his only complaint being that he required so much care.
On the afternoon of the 6th Rev. Henderson of Gilbert conducted a brief service at the late residence, after which the remains were taken to Pleasant Grove, where many friends had assembled to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of one who had lived among them so long. A few touching remarks were made from the words "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Several favorite hymns were sung, prayers were offered, the last look taken. "Dust to dust," and one more had gone to dwell in the "city growing, ever, street on street."
The family appreciate the sympathy so kindly expressed.--from the Ames Intelligenser - June 12, 1893
