PIONEER OF NEVADA DIES AT LONG BEACH

NEVADA - Calvin Wells, 85, pioneer of the Nevada community and eldest son of a pioneer family, died at his home at Long Beach, Cal., Friday, April 11, according to word received here Wednesday.

On Wednesday, April 9, Mr. and Mrs. Wells celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. Besides his wife, one son, Claude Wells, survives. Claude is married and has two children. A second son died 12 years ago in Utah from the effects of being kicked by a horse.

Calvin Wells was the eldest of three sons of whom only one survives, Sam of Des Moines.

Mr, and Mrs. Wells moved to California about 25, years ago. During their residence in Story county they operated the Nevada township farm now owned by Homer White. For a few years after leaving the farm the Wells family lived in Nevada. Mr. Wells built the home now occupied by Floyd Alderman.
