THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, September 24, 2008.

Georgia Ruble, daughter of David and Nora (Stewart) Grissom, was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Highland Center, and died Sept. 22, 2008, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Community of Christ Church in Corydon, with Elder Verlin L. Akers officiating. Burial will be in Corydon Cemetery.

Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Georgia married Darl Verl Ruble on Oct. 2, 1949. Two children were born to this union, Martha and Marshall.

Together they made a home on farmland purchased three miles north of Corydon. Georgia and Darl eventually purchased two more farms and built an extensive livestock farm. They worked side-by-side on the farm until 2004 when they moved to Corydon.

She was very active in the community. She was a 4-H leader, Women's Farm Bureau member and president, member of the Porkettes, and Band Parents member. She also was a member of the Wayne County Ministerial Alliance and Church Woman United.

She was active in raising the funds to build Community of Christ Church in Corydon. She continued to support the church through the women's department as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, recorder and historian, Christian education director and stewardship commissioner. She was instrumental in starting the Sunday worship services at the Wayne County Fair.

She was a great homemaker and could whip up a feast on a moment's notice as many friends and family can attest. She would cook for whoever showed up on her doorstep. Sunday lunches were a particular favorite for family fellowship with homemade ice cream and fried chicken.

She is survived by one daughter, Martha Grosz and husband, Bill, of Pleasant Hill; one son, Marshall and wife, Patricia, of Ames; grandchildren, Christopher Grosz, of Ames, Benjamin Grosz, of Pleasant Hill, Jeremie Ruble and Nicole Knight, both of Lexington, Ky., and Samuel Ruble, of Corydon; great-grandchildren, William Grosz, of Webster City, and Tyson Grosz, of Ames. She also is survived by sister, Betty Porter, of Clive; sister, Peggy and brother-in-law, Dale, of Carlisle; brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Shirley, of Mission, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darl; her sister, Lois, and brother-in-law, Dale; her brother, Pete and sister-in-law, Willa Jean; and brother-in law, George.

Memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Research.
