CHARLES L. FISH DIES AT COLLINS

COLLINS - Charles L. Fish, 70, prominent Collins stock buyer and land owner, died suddenly following a heart attack about 2:30 Saturday morning at his home in Collins. No funeral arrangements have been made but members of the family said Saturday morning that they believed services would be held Monday afternoon at the home with burial in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. Fish is survived by his wife, three children and seven grand children. The children include Mrs. Myrtle Sokol, G. C. Fish and C. E. Fish, all of Collins.

Mr. Fish was born Nov. 21, 1859 in the Peoria settlement south of Maxwell. On Nov. 5, 1889 he was married to Maggie Gamble. Mr. Fish was a member of the A. F. and M., Order of Eastern Star and Des Moines consistory of Shrine.

CHARLES L. FISH RITES AT COLLINS

COLLINS—Funeral services for Charles L. Fish, 70; who died suddenly early Saturday morning following a heart attack, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home. The Rev. John Adamson of the Collins Methodist Episcopal church was in charge.

The rites were largely attended and many, floral offerings were received. Roy Vandeest of Cedar Falls sang two solos. He was accompanied by Mrs. Vandeest.

Masonic services were held at the grave with William Heintz of Collins in charge. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.

Pall bearers were J. E. Hale, F. H. Carver, C. R. Stone, Roscoe Pritchard, Clark Chambers and N. C. Royce.

Mr. Fish is survived by his widow, three children, seven grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters. The children are: Mrs. Myrtle Sokol, G. C. Fish and C. E. Fish, all of Collins. The brothers include: Walter Fish of Ames, Frank Fish of Cambridge, and William Beard of Rhodes. Surviving sisters are: Miss Etta Fish of Collins, Mrs. Sarah Mead of Boone, Mrs. Lou Watson of Rhodes, Mrs. Amanda Richmond of Rhodes, and Mrs. Minerva Scott of Valentine, Neb.

Mr. Fish was born in the Peoria settlement near Maxwell on November 21, 1859, and was married to Maggie Gamble on November 5, 1889.

He was a well known stock buyer, of the Collins community and for many years was a partner of the late Charles Mead. The greater part of his earnings was invested in farm land near Colo. Mr. Fish was greatly interested in the appearance of his farms altho he was extremely modest about the use of his own name in connection with them. He was a great student of agriculture and kept up with all the latest farming practices, giving special attention to ways and means to keep up soil fertility.

Mr. Fish, was an active member of the Blue lodge of the A. F. and M., and belonged to the Des Moines consistory No. 3 of the Shrine, and tbe Order of Eastern Star.
