MRS. MINERVA JORY RITES ARE HELD

ELWELL - Funeral services for Mrs. Minerva Jory,80, were held at the old Jory homestead north of Elwell Sunday afternoon with the Rev. B. H. Guthrie of the Maxwell Presbyterian church in charge. Burial was in the Center Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Jory was the widow of the late John Jory. She died March 14 at the home of her son, O. N. Jory near Elwell. Mr. and Mrs. Jory were among the pioneers of the Elwell community, moving here in 1869. Mrs. Jory has lived with her son since the death of her husband in 1915.

Mrs. Jory was born near Harrisburg, Penn., on Oct. 25, 1849, but moved to Illinios as a young girl. On Jan. 23, 1868, she was married and moved to the farm near Elwell where she spent the rest of her life.

Besides her son with whom she made her home, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Richardson, survives. Two children, Arcia and Jennie, died while still infants. John Jory was a Civil war veteran.
