Frances Jean Russell, 90, of Ames, and formerly of Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Frances Jean (Olson) Russell, 90, of Ames, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Bethany Manor in Story City. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, with Pastor Terry DeZonia officiating. Inurnment will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Frances Jean (Olson) Russell was born March 21, 1918, in Muscatine, to Robert A. and Vera D. Van Dyke. She was a homemaker and lived in Ames from 1944 to 1981, and then Levittown, Pa., for 25 years.

She was married to Ralph H. Olson for 32 years until his death in 1976. She married Reuel Russell on Nov. 22, 1981. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Fairless, Pa.

She is survived by two sons, Douglas J. Olson, of El Segundo, Calif., and Steven (Janet) Olson, of Roland; one daughter, Sandra Erwine, of Des Moines; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane King, of Muscatine; and two nephews, Tom Kochneff and Jeff King, both of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ralph Olson; and second husband, Reuel Russell in 2007.
