THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, August 26, 2008.

Aug. 25, 1944-Aug. 22, 2008

James "Jim" Edd Hill, 63, of Pilot Mound, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Don Williams Park near Ogden. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Jim was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Ames, the son of Bert and Della Angeline "Angie" (Vogt) Hill. He graduated Union Mill (Missouri) High School in 1962. He attended the Apprentice Painters Union Trade College. He was a professional painter and retired in 2003 from Iowa State University. He married Patricia "Patty" Fry. He loved to fish and hunt and being a "jack of all trades." He lived for his kids and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, of Pilot Mound; his mother, Angie Hill, of Pilot Mound; three sons, Jason Hill, of Webster City, Matthew Hill, of Nevada, and Brian Hill, of Boone; two stepsons, Dathan Purdy, of Luther, and Dwaine Purdy, of Nevada; three daughters, Teresa Smith, of Maxwell, Danielle Wolfinger, of Boone, and Danae Hill, of Slater; two stepdaughters, Dawn Bill, of Clear Lake, and Dana Blair, of Ames; 19 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Hill, of Colo; and one sister, Joyce Sternquist, of Boone.

He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Michael Shane Hill; and one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jeanie Hill.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
