FORMER COLLINS RESIDENT DIES

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Ethyl Armstrong Ayers at Methodist hospital, Des Moines, June 20, at 2:30 a.m., where she had been confined since May 17. Funeral services were held June 22 at Hamilton's Funeral home, with burial at Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Ayers had been a resident of Des Moines for 12 years, and the past 12 years had operated the Varsity Coffee shop across from Drake campus.

Ethyl M. Ayers was born April 24, 1887, at Collins, Ia., the daughter of Albert G. and Elsie O. Armstrong. She attended school here and on Aug. 8, 1908 was married to Warren T. Ayers of Des Moines.

Survivors include one son, Albert E. (Ted) Ayers and one granddaughter Stephanie Ann of Sioux City, Ia.; one brother Bert Armstrong of Marshalltown, and a niece and nephew of Mason City. She was preceeded in death by her husband April 2 of this year; also by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
