A large number of relatives and friends from Gilbert attended the funeral of Merrill Hunter, who was killed Saturday, Nov. 27th, when his car was struck by a North Western freight train at the Kellogg Ave. crossing. The coroners jury placed the blame for the accident upon H. E. Oyler, the watchman in charge of the crossing. He did not lower the guard gate sufficiently in advance of the approaching train.
