Gus Ivory, 61, died Wednesday, May 28. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Gus Ivory, 61, of Nevada, died Wednesday, May 28, of cancer at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Heartland Baptist Church, 3504 Grand Ave., in Ames, with the Rev. Randy Abell officiating. Visitation will be at 3 p.m.

Gus Ivory was born Sept. 26, 1946, to the late Robert and Wilma Smith Ivory, of Jonesboro, Ark. He accepted Christ in 1957 and was baptized by Rev. W. O. Linsley and Deacon E. T. Kendall at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Ark. He rededicated his life to Christ this year and attended Heartland Baptist Church in Ames.

He attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1964 as Valedictorian. He attended Drake University in Des Moines as a Presidential Scholar and upon graduating, made Iowa his home.

He was a Senior Design Draftsman and a faithful employee of Sauer Danfoss until his health forced him into retirement.

He came from a close-knit family that consisted of his father, mother, grandmother, Bessie, and aunt, Gussie, who all preceded him in death.

He is survived by four brothers, Robert (Maxine), of Memphis, Tenn., Richard, of Des Moines, David, of Glenwood, and Johnny, of Reno, Nev.; two aunts and two uncles, Bobbie (Bennie) Torrence, Mattie, and McKinley, all of Milwaukee, Wis., and Fritz (Mary), of Dallas; three nephews, Freeman and Robert, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Anthony (Lisa), of El Cajon, Calif.; two nieces, Gwenada and Angie, both of San Diego; and many devoted and loving friends who were there for him daily.

Memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House.

Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
