Nancy Lewis, 74, died Wednesday, May 21, of leukemia at Israel Family Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2126 Gable Lane, with a private burial in Iowa State University cemetery. Nancy's family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St.

Nancy was born on June 11, 1933, in Burlington, to Frank D. and Mabel Tucker White. She graduated from Springfield (Ohio) High School in 1951, and from Wittenberg University in 1955 with a bachelor of science degree. She married Edwin Lewis, a college classmate, on June 25, 1955.

She was employed as a surgery research technician at the Ohio State University from 1955 to 1957. In 1957, she and Ed moved from Columbus to Ames, where he joined the staff at Iowa State University and she was employed by McFarland Clinic as a medical technologist. She subsequently held positions as a medical technologist at Iowa State University Student Health Center and as an editor for the Iowa State University Press. From 1979 to 1987, she operated an infant day-care service in her home. She also was a certified spiritual director.

She was a charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, a member of Lutherans Concerned of North America and a member of the Ames Advisory Council for Planned Parenthood of Central Iowa. Until recently, she contributed a regular column for Facets, a monthly publication of The Tribune.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years; four children, Elizabeth, of Glendale, Calif., Jonathan, of Minneapolis, Kendrick of St. Paul, Minn., and Mynda, of Woodbury, Minn.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Lindert, of Davis, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family requests no flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
