Jack Rosemeyer, 78, of Odebolt, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Evangelical Free Church in Arthur with the Rev. John Aiken officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.
Jack was born Jan. 8, 1930, at home on the farm in Crawford County, Wis., to Archie and Velma Bennett Rosemeyer. He attended country school and graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1948.
He married Olga Benora Hatland in a double wedding April 4, 1953, in Dubuque, along with their lifelong friends Jim and Darlene Nutter. To this union, Norine, Valerie, Bradley and Jewelene, their four children, were born. They moved to Odebolt in 1958, where Jack drove a truck for the Grant Langley Creamery and later worked for IBP. He began long-distance driving and drove for many years over the road, retiring in July 1995 from Eberly and Sons.
He is survived by his children, Norine Black and husband, Duane, of Ames, Valerie Beverland, of Omaha, Neb., Bradley Rosemeyer and wife, Kristy, of Odebolt, and Jewelene Rosemeyer and friend, Donald Gronemeyer, of Odebolt; eight grandchildren, Ward Black, Chad Black, Jasmine Rosemeyer, Shawna Rosemeyer Chiasson, Priscilla Beverland, Leah Carlson, Brianna Carlson and Royce Rosemeyer; and three great-grandchildren, Madison Black, Hannah Rosemeyer and Olivia Chiasson. Other survivors include two brothers, Robert Rosemeyer, of Soldiers Grove, Wis., and Gene Rosemeyer, of Myakka City, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olga, on Oct. 21, 2006; and one brother, Max Rosemeyer.
