MAXWELL - Ruth Marilyn Lowe. 81, of Maxwell, died Friday, May 2, 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Marilyn was born February 26, 1927 in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Sidney and Florence Dodge (Robinson) Lyon. She graduated from Creston High School in 1944, from Creston Junior College in 1946, and from Drake University in 1968. She was united in marriage to Hansel Lowe on August 17, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Hansel preceded Marilyn in death in 1982. Marilyn was an elementary school teacher in the Maxwell Community Schools for 31 years. She retired in 1990. She was a member of the Maxwell Christian Church where she had served as a deaconess, the C.W.F., and was a charter member of the Monday Study Club of Maxwell. She enjoyed gardening, baking, singing, cross stitching and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Kathy Wankum of Marcus, Iowa, Barbara and Randy Tentinger of La Vista, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren: Kimberly and Mallory Wankum of Marcus, Iowa, and Amy and Mark Tentinger of La Vista, Nebraska. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Sam Treichler of Beaverton, Oregon, her brother and sister-in-law Don and Carol Lyon of Waukon, Iowa and her brother-in-law Dick Milligan of Maxwell, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hansel Lowe; her brother, Allen Lyon; her sister, Priscilla Colson: and her-son in-law, Ray Wankum.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Burial was in the Maxwell Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home. A prayer service was held.

The Bacon Funeral Home of Maxwell handled arrangements.
