Luetta Lavon Corbin, 77 of Nevada died on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral mass was held on Wednesday, May 7 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Rick Dagit officiating. Burial followed in the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Luetta was born on December 23, 1930 in Union Township, Story County, Iowa to Claude Russell and Hazel Lottie (Groseclose) Appelgate. On January 28, 1950, she married Lawrence "Abe" Corbin in Nevada. Lu retired from Donnelley Marketing in 1989. She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Bible Study group, Story County Hospital Auxiliary, and the church's bereavement ministry group and prayer chains. Lu loved her dog Taffy and enjoyed doing crafts and handwork, family vacations, the Hawkeyes, and Christmas.

Luetta is survived by 3 daughters, Claudette R. Staab (Patrick) of Marcus, IA, Karen L. Myers (Dennis) of Nevada, and Elaine Y. Crabbs (Alan) of Maxwell; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister Alberta Stansbury (Duane) of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luetta was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Leonard Coleman in 1966, and her husband Abe on February 5, 1989.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services was entrusted with Lu and her family.
