Mary G. Whiting, 93, of Ames passed away Saturday May 3 at Northcrest Care Center. Funeral services are pending with Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Mary Gillespie Whiting, 93, died Saturday, May 3, at Northcrest Community in Ames, where she was a resident. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ames.

Mary was born July 7, 1914, in Des Moines. She attended St. Katherine's School in Davenport and Iowa State University. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and P.E.O. She lived much of her life in Des Moines and also lived in New York City, Chicago and Whiting before moving to Ames. She spent her summers at her lake home in Spicer, Minn.

She is survived by one niece; one great-nephew; one great-grandniece; one stepdaughter; one stepson; and one step-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman R. Whiting; her parents; and brother.

Memorials may be directed to Northcrest Community or Homeward Hospice of Ames.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.
