Mary Jo White Ledet Gulden Birch, 80, died Tuesday, April 1, in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a long illness.
Mary Jo White was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Chickasaw, Okla., to William Farris White and Lola Looney White. She lived in Oklahoma until her marriage to Major Tage (Ted) Ledet in 1945. They had three sons, Richard, Jack and Eric Tage. In 1970, she married Dr. Hazen (Doc) Gulden. After Dr. Gulden's death, she married Larry Birch.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Ames. Two of her hobbies were needlepoint and genealogy. Mary Jo created needlepoint works of art for her family and church. She enjoyed traveling to collect genealogical information.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Birch; son, Richard (Marty) Ledet, of Nevada, and their children, Hans and Dana Ledet; son, Jack (Leslie) Ledet, of Ames, and their children, Eric Ledet and Lauren (Trent) Ragaller; stepchildren, Ann (Robert) Harbin, of Mesa, Ariz., Fred (Elizabeth) Gulden, of Ames, David (Adrienne) Birch, Denny Birch, Joel Birch, and Christopher (Genevieve) Birch; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and brother, Tom (Patricia) White.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ted Ledet and Dr. Hazen Gulden; son, Eric Tage Ledet; and brothers, James and David White.
Memorials may be sent to the Leukemia Foundation to Care for Kids Suffering With Cancer.
