NEVADA - Marie Frances Sande, 87, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Services were held Friday, April 18th, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial was in Story Memorial Cemetery in Ames.

Marie was born December 21, 1920 at Ames, Iowa, the daughter of "BA" and Ella (Miller) Dodds. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1938 and attended Iowa State College. She married Art Sande on December 10, 1941 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Art preceded her in death on May 10, 1980. Marie worked as a secretary for Iowa DOT, Sunstrand and the Ascension Lutheran Church. She was voted Iowa Secretary of the Year in 1974. She was a Master Gardener; member of the Iowa Genealogy Society, Ascension Lutheran Church and D.A.R. Marie loved her family and is known for her deep faith. She enjoyed quilting and was a Bible Study member at the Regency in Nevada.

Marie is survived by two daughters: Judy (Carl) Allen of Nevada, Iowa; Ann (Ron) Reed of Boone, Iowa; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandsons; two brothers: Jim (Pat) Dodds and Bill (Fran) Dodds all of Ames, Iowa; and one sister: Norma (Arnold) Lande of Webster City, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and one granddaughter, Tracy.

Memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church Building Fund; Hospice and Nevada 1st Responders.

Bacon Funeral Homes and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
